Benefits of medical membership

Medical membership of the ADSHG is an electronic (e-Membership) option which offers:

On-line access to our publications

1. Immediate access to publications issued by the ADSHG in PDF form including:

• The 12 page ADSHG newsletter, issued quarterly, in PDF form to members and e-Members only and not publicly available on the website. The newsletter features articles and patient guidance from leading adrenal specialists on subjects such as pregnancy, exercise and emergency management.   It also provides news updates about issues such as medication supply problems, e.g. recurrent fludrocortisone shortages during 2006.

• Living with Addison’s disease: an owner’s manual, 28 page patient education booklet written jointly by Professor John Wass and members of the ADSHG, in PDF form

2. Easy access to publications issued by the Addison’s Clinical Advisory Panel at: www.addisons.org.uk/publications in PDF form.  To date, these address:

• Surgical guidelines for glucocorticoid medication

• Emergency treatment instructions for adrenal crisis

• Managing Addison’s disease, a two page patient education leaflet

3. Notification by emails when new publications become available.

4. As a medical professional you are free to copy our publications for the education of your patients.

Email group & forums

• Access to our new medical personnel only electronic Addison’s medic discussion group (e-mail based), where you can share information and ask questions of other medical personnel about the management of adrenal insufficiency.  This forum will be exclusively for medical personnel; adrenal patients will not have access

• The ADSHG also operates a separate patient e-mail discussion group (the ADSHG e-group) however medical members of the ADSHG will not have automatic access to the patient forum.

Annual subscription

The medical membership has an annual subscription of £12.  This can only be paid on-line and upon application*. Membership then becomes due the following January. When joining between July & December your initial subscription payment will be £6 for the period until December.
