Meet the ADSHG Executive

Deana Kenward: President
Deana
founded the Addison’s Disease Self-Help Group in 1984, a few
years after her diagnosis. For many years she ran the
group’s activities single-handed and without her efforts,
the group would not be here today.

Katherine G. White:
Chair
Katherine was diagnosed in 1998 and became actively involved
with the ADSHG in 2000, when Sarah Baker invited her to
co-author the
Owner’s Manual which was published by the ADSHG.

Margaret Fox: Deputy Chair
Margaret was diagnosed with
Addisons in 1997 after almost a year of feeling ill and
losing weight, which came to a head in September1997. Soon
after this, she took part in a year-long clinical trial of
DHEA at Addenbrookes. Within the following year she was
also diagnosed with insulin-diabetes.

Nigel Ingham: Treasurer
Nigel
was diagnosed with Addison’s in 2005, although like many
others the tell-tale signs were evident for some time
prior to diagnosis. In addition to Addison’s he has since
been diagnosed as having a gluten allergy (coeliac

Jan Dryden: Meetings co-ordinator
Jan
was diagnosed with Addisons in January 2003 and joined ADSHG
soon after. She has found the group an invaluable source of
support and information and is keen to help others in the

Phil Stevens: Ambulance awareness
co-ordinator
Phil
joined the group in July 2006, not long after he was
diagnosed. He leads a normal active life and has recently
retired, having worked for British Telecom for 42 years.

Aoife Hughes: Irish co-ordinator
Aoife
was diagnosed with Addison’s in 2003, in Australia. She
joined the ADSHG online, having been given the Owner’s
Manual by a friend. On her return to Ireland, she
developed a support network for Addison’s patients, which
met socially in Dublin.

Mary (Tag) McEntegart: Trustee
Tag was
diagnosed in early 2003 and found the ADSHG very soon after.
This has allowed her to attend all the medical lectures/AGMs
so far and to benefit from what she describes as the
‘invaluable collective wisdom’ of the group.

Ian Carswell: Fundraising
Co-ordinator
Ian
was diagnosed in 2004 after becoming very ill on holiday
in Ireland, which also coincided with the worst weather in
Ireland for 60 years. He put it down to gastroenteritis
and didn’t seek medical help until a week later when he
was back at home.

Noel Hawks: Conference & database management
I was diagnosed with
Addison’s disease and hypothyroidism in 1987. Some years
later, I learnt about the ADSHG from a magazine article
that my mother passed on to me.

Nick Willson: Webmaster
Nick leads an active life
and enjoys circuit training, Jive dancing and loves
adventure sports and trekking. He was diagnosis with
Addison's Disease in July 1996 and since then he has
designed and developed the website with the help of others
on the editorial team.
