Phil
joined the group in July 2006, not long after he was
diagnosed. He leads a normal active life and has recently
retired, having worked for British Telecom for 42 years. For
the last four years, he was head of asset security in
Openreach, one of BT’s larger organisations. His
contributions to the group since joining have included
obtaining a significant one-off grant of £5000 from BT
Shareholder Services and regular support to new joiners
through the forum. Phil hopes to make a strong contribution
to the group’s work in raising medical awareness, building
on his background experience in security & safety issues. He
has already started exploring how we can improve awareness
in the healthcare communities and recently had a brief
article included the monthly bulletin of his local LINk
organisation, which is an independent network of community
groups working with Kent’s health and social care services.
