What is Addison's? - educational booklet

This education booklet, 'What is Addison’s?' was written with school projects in mind and provides some basic information on the condition.

The booklet gives a little history of Addison’s, from its discovery by Dr Thomas Addison in 1855, through the scientific and medical advances that occurred in the twentieth century, concluding with an overview of what life is like today for people with Addison’s. It includes a section of definitions explaining some of the medical terms used in endocrinology. This booklet is probably most useful for senior high school biology and social history topics, but may also be relevant for junior science projects.

The booklet can be downloaded in colour or black and white versions - just click the download button.

To photocopy this booklet, set your printer to 'Fit to printable area' and to 'Black and White' print. It will then print to a photocopiable standard on a full A4 page.

A companion product 'What is Addison's?' A3 educational poster is also available.

The booklet is © ADSHG September 2015. This booklet may be copied for educational purposes, that is for teachers to use with their students and for medical practitioners to use with their patients, or for personal use. Otherwise, it should not be reproduced without written permission from the ADSHG.

    ADSHG publicity poster

A4 publicity poster for doctor’s surgeries or fundraising events

This poster can be offered to outpatients units at hospitals or GP’s waiting rooms or used at your fundraising events. If you have access to colour printing, please print it in colour as it is more eye-catching.

Please ensure you ask permission from the receptionist (or unit manager if relevant) before attaching it to the notice board. We anticipate that the poster might need replacing every six months or so, as they tend to become rather worn, so if everyone printed off a copy and took it with them to their check-ups, we could ensure a regular supply of fresh and attractive posters for display.
