Q: What would be the effect of an accidental overdose of cortisone tablets? Or in the case, say, of a child mistaking them for sweets.

A: An accidental overdose of cortisone tablets should not cause any permanent harm. A few tablets will certainly do no harm as a one off event. They might well make a child sick. Of course I cannot make absolute statements about it because it would depend upon the size of the overdose. A few tablets certainly would not be a problem.
