About the ACAP - Professor John Wass, MA MD FRCP

John Wass has been Professor of Endocrinology at Oxford University since 1998 and a Consultant in Endocrinology at both the Churchill Hospital and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford since 1995. 

 

Prior to that he was Professor of Clinical Endocrinology and an Honorary Consultant Physician in the Departments of Endocrinology and Medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical College, London.

 

He is editor of the Oxford Textbook of Endocrinology, (eds Wass and Shalet) OUP 2002 and of he Oxford Handbook of Endocrinology (eds Wass and Turner) OUP 2002.

 

John Wass was a founding member of the UK Pituitary Society and is also a member of the UK Society for Endocrinology, the American Endocrine Society, the Medical Research Council and the Association of Physicians.  He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, member of the Section of Endocrinology.

 

He is a teacher in RQE on behalf of the European Board of Endocrinology of the Specialised Section of the UEMS (2000 – 2009).

 

John Wass was awarded a Recognition of Quality in Endocrinology (RQE) in 2002, a Society for Endocrinology Award in 1997 and a Clinical Endocrinology Trust Award in 1995.  He was visiting professor at the Cedars Sinai Medical School, Los Angeles, in 2004.
