Sarah was diagnosed with
Addison’s Disease in 1994, while living in the USA. When she
returned to the UK in 1995, she joined ADSHG and, during
1996/7, undertook a survey of members to try and establish
the scope for
finetuning the treatment of the disease. This triggered
interest and support from the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford
and led to the publication of the
“Living with Addison’s Disease” manual, which she
co-wrote with Katherine White.
Sarah has two teenage children and works part time from home as a freelance
writer/editor. Previously, she worked in advertising as an
account handler for some of London’s top agencies.
She tries to lead a
reasonably active lifestyle and feels fortunate that she is
able to do so, despite having Addison’s. In 2002, she walked
the Cotswold Way and has since embarked on another long
distance walk – the Cotswold and Mendip stretch of the
Monarch’s Way, from Stratford Upon Avon to Lyme Regis.
