Trevor Howlett has led the development of endocrinology services in Leicester since 1988. 

During this time he has established a large, and still growing, clinical practice in the speciality. He is a founder member of the Clinical Committee of the Society for Endocrinology and UK Representative on the European Board of Endocrinology. His major sub-speciality interests include the diagnosis and management of adrenal insufficiency; the  management of pituitary disease and the clinical consequences of PCOS. Dr Howlett is currently Royal College of Physicians Regional Advisor and Directorate Consultant Lead for Clinical Governance.
