Background
The
ADSHG has had a website since February 2001, containing some basic
information, links to other Addison's groups and the
Addison's Owners Manual in electronic form. The need to move
the original website and the opportunity to re-design it was
forced upon us when the organisation which hosted the site
announced it would be closing at the end of August 2002.
Design
In May
2002 Nick Willson and Katherine White set about discussing
and agreeing a design brief for a brand new ADSHG website.
The overall goal, purpose and potential users were defined;
the content and site structure determined and a concept
design developed. With weekly phone conferences and
numerous, almost daily, emails Nick and Katherine set about
turning the ideas and concept into reality. Katherine
gathered, wrote and structured the content and Nick
developed the layout and an internal structure which was
both easy to expand and easy to maintain.
Objectives and design aims
We hope
the new website provides people diagnosed with Addison's
disease with a positive, clear and professional
website which is characterised by positivity, warmth and
vitality.
Concepts behind the site
Two key
themes dominate the site: Education and Connectedness.
Through the information pages we hope you will learn more
about Addison's and have all the information you may need
available to you at your finger tips. Enabling people
to contact one another and find help and support is also key
and we hope the Communication pages will go some way to help
you. Hot TOPICSon the homepage provide a way for you
to see the latest information added to the website or other
key articles. These will build-up into an extensive library
of information as new TOPICSare added on a monthly basis.
Future ideas and concepts
We hope
to further develop the website and possibly include such
features as feedback forms, an internal search engine and
possibly a discussion forum.
Feedback and Suggestions
We of
course value your feedback, praise and suggestions to
improve the site, please do
