Social meetings

  • ADSHG social meetings are run by local group members around the UK and Ireland. They take place in either local cafes, community halls or occasionally in private homes. All follow an open agenda, with the opportunity to meet and talk with others over tea, coffee and cake. Where possible, an endocrine nurse from a nearby hospital joins the meeting to lead injection practice and answer questions.

ADSHG social meetings are listed in the members' meetings calendar and publicised in the notices section of the ADSHG newsletter, on page 15. All ADSHG members, along with their family or a companion,  are welcome to attend. If you are not yet a member of our charity, you can join here. For liability reasons around injection practice, meetings are not open to the general public.

If you are interested in hosting a meeting in your area, this guide to holding a social get-tgether is a good place to start. If you feel motivated to do so, please get in touch with our meetings coordinator on this link. All our social meetings are arranged by local volunteers and we welcome interest from new hosts from around the country. Meetings are usually held on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Meetings held in hired halls sometimes involve a small door charge to cover expenses.
