Assistance with recruiting

ADSHG

  • The ADSHG receives regular approaches from researchers who are seeking our assistance with recruiting participants for their scientific projects. These approaches range from requests to publicise online questionnaires, through assistance in sourcing participants for qualitative interviews or focus groups, to requests to assist with long-term clinical trials.

Some of the past projects that the ADSHG has supported are described here.

To apply for ADSHG assistance in a research project, we ask researchers to complete the attached questionnaire and return it, along with supporting documentation, for consideration by the ADSHG trustees and wider executive committee.

We encourage researchers to consider whether their research outcomes have any potential long-term benefit for people with autoimmune Addison's or more generally for people who are steroid-dependent. We ask that they are clear about the potential impacts of their research on participants. This means the potential for either personal benefit or growth, and psychological or physical harm.

Supporting documentation should include any patient information sheets that will be offered to participants, a copy of the ethics application or approval, and the research grant application where relevant. For online questionnaires, please supply a Word or PDF file copy of the full questionnaire.

Please allow 6 - 8 weeks for a decision from the trustees on any research application. Please note that the trustees will not ordinarily consider research approaches where the researcher has not sought ethics approval from their supervising institution. The ADSHG is unable to offer a fast track approval process for quick-turnaround questionnaires.

If you have any queries, please contact us via our online form.

Anyone wishing to make a charitable donation towards the work of the ADSHG in supporting medical research, can do so through our dedicated Just Giving appeal, here.
