Jane Austen's birthday

Conferences & events

This event repeats every year forever

Event details

Jane Austen probably had bovine tubercolosis rather than Addison's, although she is widely assumed to have had this rarer complication from a long-standing TB infection. As reported in our March 20010 newsletter https://www.addisons.org.uk/group/members/newsletters/nl99mar10/adshgnl99mar10page3.pdf Her family home in Chawton is now a museum, down near Winchester, where her little writing table is displayed. They have a printout out of the 1963 BMJ article speculating about Addison's framed on the wall.
