Addison's Disease Self Help Group newsletter, issue 121, September 2015

Welcome to the autumn 2015 newsletter. This issue starts with a controversial topic: on page 3, we respond to recent claims from The Times columnist Tanya Byron about the psychological health of people with Addison’s. Perhaps because she has only a passing familiarity with the effects of high-dose prednisolone, Prof Byron seems unaware of the difference between the side effects from therapeutic steroid doses that may be more than ten times higher than replacement, and the restorative, life-saving benefits of replacement hydrocortisone.
