Addison's in the Alps

In June, Stuart Jones and his friend Richard Topping climbed Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe, to raise money for the ADSHG and Great Ormond Street Hospital. Stuart has Addison’s himself, so this was an amazing achievement and we are so grateful to them for choosing to support us in this way.

Including Gift Aid, Stuart and Dickie’s daunting challenge raised over £2,000 for the ADSHG and the same again for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Members can read more amount how Stuart found the climb and how he managed his Addison’s along the way in the December 2015 ADSHG Newsletter.

We are grateful to Stuart Jones and specifically Richard Topping of Fourth Flight Films for creating this exclusive documentary of their endeavour for us. Additional features made about Stuart and Richard's preparations for the climb, covering coastal path training, climbing wall practice, two attempts to climb Snowden, and the final ascent on the summit of Mont Blanc can be viewed on the Fourth Flight Films vimeo channel

The Swedish Addison's society, working with cinematographer Martin Wallgren, has produced a similarly themed video about recovery from the Addison's pre-diagnosis illness and sporting achievement: The Last Remaining Light. You can view it on this link.
